Ebro Found Out What a Bot Is. Now Everybody’s One.

On Oct. 12, Ebro Darden went on X and started handing out verdicts. “Bot Check: Akademiks.” Nicki Minaj. Uzi Vert. One after another, like a man who just got a new label maker and is walking around the house sticking it on everything.
The next day he went on his podcast to explain it. Bots, he says, “aren’t just automated.” His co-host finished the thought: “They’re paid also.”
Congratulations, Ebro. Welcome to 2014.
Here’s what Ebro and the old heads his age still don’t understand. Artists on the level of Drake, Nicki and Ye have built followings so big that when you keep swinging at them, the response looks organized. Millions of people with the same memory and the same receipts, showing up at the same time, can look like a coordinated attack. It can look like propaganda. It’s a fan base.
Plenty of artists out here do thrive on bots. I’m not going to pretend they don’t. But coming for Drake, Taylor Swift or Bad Bunny is just BEGGING for retaliation, and a lot of media figures have learned that the hard way this year.
The numbers they can’t bot-check
Look at what Drake did in 2026 alone.
ICEMAN, Habibti and Maid of Honour dropped on May 15. “Make Them Cry” pulled 14.1 million U.S. streams on day one, per Billboard. “Janice STFU” went No. 1 on U.S. daily Spotify and Apple Music. All three albums locked up Apple Music’s U.S. top three for two straight weeks. ICEMAN has sat at No. 1 on Apple Music’s U.S. albums chart for more than 50 days, a record for a hip-hop album there, and opened with roughly 140 million Spotify streams in its first day.
And as of this fall, Drake is No. 2 in U.S. Spotify Top 200 streams for the year through the third quarter, with 1.09 billion, per Music Business Worldwide.
You want to call that bots? Go ahead. Somebody explain to me what bot farm is pushing a man to the top of the charts for months on end.
Five Minutes Into the Bot Conversation
These old heads figured out what bots were about five minutes ago. And like every guy who just learned something, Ebro thinks he cracked the DaVinci Code. Now he’s on air breaking down the inner workings of the bot economy like he built it.
Let me make it plain for the readers. Ebro is a bona fide idiot in this field. He can’t explain to you how bots work, let alone who’s running them and why. That much is obvious every time he opens his mouth about it.
Akademiks said it best the same day: “u manic ole heads confuse an audience or a fan base with bots.”
What this is really about
Look closer and you’ll see what’s actually happening. This is guys like Ebro clearing themselves of accountability and criticism. That’s a dangerous combination.
Every comment that holds up your past words gets thrown in the bot pile. Every call of hypocrisy gets dismissed. The hate train you rode with a smile on your face, gone. The time you called Drake “a sickness in the game” on Hot 97 in February 2025, gone.
Dec. 15, 2025, you put Drake’s alleged DMs on blast and hit him with “You’re salty about losing to Kendrick.” The day before, you called him “right wing.” And now, when the people who remember all of that show up in your mentions, they’re bots?
No, Ebro. Those are people. They were there. They took notes.
They Kept the Receipts
You can’t run from the MILLIONS you’ve pissed off.
Out of those millions, 100,000 remember what you said.
Out of those 100,000, 10,000 saved it and stored it away.
Out of those 10,000, 1,000 run the biggest fan pages in the game. They’re the loudest supporters that artist has.
And out of that 1,000, there’s always a good 100 who won’t rest until they watch you eat those exact words.
This is the internet in 2026. This is FANDOM in 2026.
Fans Don’t Forget
Go play with the artists who actually need the bots. Sure, a bot can save your words and search your old tweets. But it’s the fans, burning with a passion you will never understand, who want to watch you struggle with the light bill, the phone bill, and end up begging on the pavement.
