The Take Care Jewelry Is Back — and the Most Likely Seller Has Beef With Drake

A private Wind Vintage listing just put the Baden Baden jewelry tied to Drake’s Take Care era back into the culture’s hands for $295,000. The public seller is clear. Who quietly consigned the pieces is not. The paper trail, the lyrics, and a 2013 legal war all lean the same way: Michael Raphael — the jeweler behind Baden Baden and, by Drake’s own verse, the man who designed the OVO owl and then sued.
Drake is not selling these pieces
What’s for sale
Dealer Eric Wind of Wind Vintage is privately offering “The Baden Baden Jewelry Collection Including Jewelry worn on the Drake ‘Take Care’ Album.” Asking price: $295,000.
Wind’s page and Complex describe the set as including: the 14K St. Lazarus pendant associated with the Take Care cover look; Nicolis Cola 18K gold anchor chain and bracelets made in Italy for Baden Baden; three custom micro-pavé diamond rings; the original sterling silver OVO owl production master (casting model with sprues); and a custom 2004 Jacob & Co. Baden Baden five-time-zone watch (box/papers/receipt; not cover jewelry; service suggested). Archive window roughly 2009–2011. Photographer credit in reporting: Hyghly Alleyne and Lamar Taylor.
This is a high-end private listing through a known vintage dealer — not a traditional auction hammer. Jewelry not confirmed sold on the public record. Listed / offered.
Drake is not the seller
That matters, because the easy headline writes itself. British GQ (Apr 2026) and follow-on coverage: Wind brought the Take Care-era Rolex GMT-Master II to market at $500,000. Wind told GQ the watch did not come from Drake — it came from someone in his circle who lent it around Take Care. Press later reported the Rolex sold at the ask (Esquire / WatchPro lane). GQ US follow-up also reported Drake texted Wind after the watch surfaced.
The jewelry listing uses the same framing: original owner / colleague archive; same dealer; second tranche after the Rolex. Wind’s jewelry page says the jewelry comes from the original owner who formerly owned the Rolex GMT Wind recently sold — still unnamed.
Wind Vintage has not published the consigning colleague’s name on the jewelry listing.
Who it most likely is
The strongest public ID is soft — but not thin.
Michael Raphael (CourtListener / filings: Michael Ryan Raphael) ran Baden Baden, the New York jewelry house tied to custom Drake pieces in the late Thank Me Later / Take Care window. The federal copyright suit caption and counterclaim practice put Baden Baden Inc. and Raphael opposite Aubrey Drake Graham and October’s Very Own Merchandising.
Drake later put the conflict in a song heard on FATD.
On “Away From Home” (For All The Dogs, 2023):
“I remember Mike designed the owl, then he sued the fucking guys, and he duckin’ until now.”
That line names Mike as the owl’s designer, confirms a lawsuit against “the guys,” and frames a long freeze. In the public record, the owl fight is Baden Baden Inc. v. Graham — with Raphael in the counterclaim caption.
Until Wind or Raphael says otherwise on the record: the same original owner who consigned the Rolex is most likely Raphael / the Baden Baden archive. Readers should still hear the hedge. Wind has only said “colleague” / “original owner.”
The 2013 break: two tracks
1) Owl copyright — federal court
Case: Baden Baden Inc. v. Graham, S.D.N.Y
Filed: August 26, 2013 (copyright infringement).
Parties indexed: Baden Baden Inc.; Michael Ryan Raphael; Aubrey Drake Graham; October’s Very Own Merchandising.
Complaint (ECF 1): against Graham and OVO Merchandising.
March 25, 2014 (ECF 27): Drake/OVO answer + counterclaim against Baden Baden Inc. and Michael Ryan Raphael.
CourtListener termination date: January 6, 2015.
Baden Baden alleged unauthorized owl reproductions after selling Drake an original pendant; Drake/OVO moved to dismiss on public-domain / Egyptian-hieroglyph originality arguments; coverage says the motion was denied and the case proceeded (~Feb 2014 press).
The Dojar Room desk cites a March 13, 2015 with-prejudice stipulation dismissing all claims and counterclaims, each side bearing its own costs/fees, plus twin 1:13-cv-07521 (contract) terminating the same day. CourtListener indexes the twin caption. Treat the Mar 13 with-prejudice / mutual-costs language as desk-strong pending RECAP PDF — do not invent dollars. No public settlement amount. No trial winner
2) Stylist unpaid-fees — state court
August 2013 press (BET / HipHopWired / Pitchfork / Complex): Raphael sued Drake in Manhattan Supreme Court for roughly $76,000–$76,490 in unpaid styling/consulting/salary/travel/shopping expenses.
Final disposition not locked in free public sources. May have resolved quietly or folded into the federal package — inference only.
The story is not that Drake is dumping Take Care. The story is that the jeweler most closely tied to that era’s metal — the man Drake called out by name for designing the owl and filing suit — is the most likely person cashing an archive while the culture is looking at Drake again.
